Te Korowai Board came together for its bi-monthly hui on 21 Paengawhāwhā 2023. With six months left of a three year term and Trustee Elections 2023 this August, trustees reflected on their achievements during the term.
The Board can share the following highlights:
- A discussion on future governance in anticipation of new trustees coming on board.
- The Board encourages hapū to complete and return their hapū development plans.
- The Board received updates from:
- The Mana Hautu of Te Kīwai Mauī, Jay Rangi Wilkinson, on the financial performance of the entity. Jay reiterated that the financial returns we have enjoyed
in the past, won’t be as consistent over the coming years. The Board applauded the commencement of groundworks at Te Rere o Kapuni. - The Māori members of the Establishment Board of Trustees at Te Paepae o Aotea.
- The Tiitahi whānau on their aspirations for the future.
- Matua Hemi Haddon on diabetes and mātauranga Māori.

- The Board acknowledged Bonita Bigham’s mahi on the CITES kaupapa (the UN Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species). Bonita has just delivered a kōrero to the UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues in New York on the protection of taonga Māori. Her kōrero will be available for viewing on our social media platforms.
