Te Kiwai Maui o Ngāruahine (Maui) is the standalone commercial entity who is accountable to Te Korowai o Ngaruahine Trust.  Its purpose is to grow the treaty settlement assets by investing in commercial activities that generate a healthy return for Te Korowai.

Many of their investments have a longterm outlook and purchasing the Dawson Falls Lodge in 2016 is one example of this.  Maui is also responsible for the Iwi fisheries quota that provides pataka for Ngāruahine kaupapa.

Maui has three Directors with the third appointment from Te Korowai Trust pending.  The current directors are:

Hinerangi Raumati -Tu’ua (Ngāti Mutunga, Waikato)

Hinerangi is the chair of Maui.  She is a Chartered Accountant and a member of the NZ Institute of Chartered Accountants.  She has significant investment and financial management and governance experience and her current roles include chair for Parininihi ki Waitotara, director of Te Ohu Kai Moana Portfolio Management Services Limited, alternate director on the Te Ohu Kai Moana Board, Director of Public Trust and Chair of the Nga Miro Health Trust.

Hinerangi was CFO of Tainui Group Holdings Limited from 2002 to 2009 and was previously Deputy Chair and Chair of the Investment Committee of Trust Waikato

Taaringaroa Nicholas (Ngāruahine, Ngāti Mutunga, Te Atiawa)

Taari is a Chartered Accountant and a member of the NZ Institute of Chartered Accountants, New Zealand Institute of Directors and the New Zealand Institute of Finance Professionals.  He has extensive experience at senior levels in funds management and banking.  He is a graduate of the University of Waikato in Management Studies and Massey University in Development Studies.  He was also the first Maori member of the New Zealand Stock Exchange.

In recent years Taari has been involved as a director of a range of companies involved in many industries including companies with a significant dairy focus.  He has been and is a trustee and advisor to many iwi, hapu, trusts, incorporations and charitable trusts, including those within Taranaki.

Taari is a director of of Parininihi ki Waitotara Incorporation, Ngāti Ruanui Holdings Corporation Ltd, Miraka Ltd, Te Awanui Hukapak Ltd, Southern Pastures (NZ) Ltd and Te Waharoa Investments Ltd.  He is also a trustee of the Waikato-Tainui Endowed College Trust.
